Is Robert De Niro A Gamer?

In this first ever blog post on gamertakeover.com, we analyze the very real possibility that Robert De Niro, famous movie actor, may be a gamer on the side. A simple internet search on celebrity gamers will show you that Mila Kunis may be a gamer as well as even James Bond (Daniel Craig)! Wow! But few have ever stopped to examine whether or not Robert De Niro of “The Irishman” is a gamer. Let’s change that.

Born in 1943, Robert De Niro spent decades slogging through life without video games even existing. Surely he must have had a lot of free time spent sitting in a chair staring at a wall. He studied acting in school, so his fascination with a television screen began early on. This may have led him to become intrinsically attached to another form of media that made expert use of the television screen: video games. It can be credibly assumed in the two year downtime between his performance in The Deer Hunter in 1978 and Raging Bull in 1980 he spent some time at the arcade, perhaps fueling an infancy of a love of gaming. However, through his busy life of acting, it is likely he did not nurture this gaming spark. He allowed the gamer inside him to wilt away and perish. So is Robert De Niro a gamer? Most likely not.
